Whatsnext arduino

I have a whatsnext arduino purple and I am trying to connect it to IDE but there is an "avrdude: stk500_getsync ( ) " error coming. Windows connects this device as USB Serial Port and not as arduino of some sort. Whatsnext site is down and there is no info on what to do. Any ideas?

Thank you for the reply,
I also bought the yellow whatsnext, connected it as standard arduino uno and worked without any problems. Would you know what USB to serial port chip this purple device is using? The “yellow” shows up in windows as arduino uno in the device manager. The purple shows up as “USB serial Port” and I can not find any driver for this to be recognized otherwise and whatsnext site is down to get further info.

It comes with a FTDI USB-bridge. There were some counterfeit issues in the past with this chip, so the manufacturer developed a special driver to block these clones.
I’m not saying whatsnext has used cloned chips, but it’s worth reading more. The net is full of stories about this subject.

I have tried various twist and turns but still have not managed to load anything on the little board. I am waiting to see if there is any feedback from whatsnext/robotshop.
