What's possible and what's not

Hello,

I am a c++/Qt software engineer + an online seller, and I just found out about this robot world. I am investigating and what those robots could do among those ideas.

  1. Learning english to my french secretary
  2. Making package that I have to ship out (I could prepare him the stuff, but then it would seal everything).
  3. Creating an automation system to create easy products…such as a robot that would create hot cold pack for original materials and according a given template.
  4. Creating a giant 3D printer (for fun, not for my business)
  5. Creating a 3D drone printer (for fun, not for my business)

Among those projects, what could be done with an existing robot, and what could be done in about one month of programming for a graduate engineer with 2 years of experience?

This information will help me to find if I should invest on training myself on those technologies.

Regards,

Cédric

Edit: For now, the best answer I have is:
Let’s say you have 5 years of experience / graduate years, right now you are able to develop at that speed: 1 week of specification => 2 months of development.
For a complete system including hardware, it is more 1 week of specification => 2 years of development + money to spend.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting RobotShop.

For automations system, you would be better looking into industrial automation robots. We sell manipulator but the tasks you wish to accomplish require more than that. A lot in integration probably with vision system would be required.

A robot for learning languages basically be a cute packaging of a microphone, some speaker with an embedded computer for the AI / learning program.
We have this robot that is meant for developers but it is impossible for us to tell you how much time it would take to develop a virtual teacher of of this. robotshop.com/en/reeti-humanoid-development-platform.html?product-code=RB-Rbp-01
We also Have this robot which is operated via an Android platform. robotshop.com/en/hovis-genie-humanoid-robot-assembled.html?product-code=RB-Das-18

As for the fun projects, imagination is the limit but there is no ready made robot that can do this. They all involve electronics, mechanics and programming design.

Robots are pretty complicated and unfortunately we are not yet to the point where there is plenty of platforms ready just waiting to be coded.

Best regards,
