My grandson is very mechanically inclined. I want to get him a SunFounder Raspberry Pi Smart Video Robot Car Kit for Raspberry Pi, Supports Ezblock/Python Code Control and Web Control.
He has a school issued macbook air. Questions:
- Is this robot car too much for him? He built a Piper computer (kit) in about 3 hours.
- If this robot car would be appropriate for him, what accessories does he need, specifically:
- which of the Raspberry Pi kits should I get for him?
- what cords and fittings does he need to connect the Raspberry Pi to his macbook?
- is there anything else he needs?

Not at all! The manual explains everything he needs to know to assemble and program the robot so he shouldn’t have any problem doing it. Anyway you can have a look at the manual yourself here.

Any Raspberry Pi model should work. However, if you are planning on reusing the Raspberry Pi for future projects a great choice would be getting the latest version, the Raspberry Pi 4.

You don’t need to connect the Raspberry Pi to the computer. However, you will need a couple of accessories to start using the Raspberry Pi, these are:
