What size batteries do the Battery Box DCH 1 accept?

I am going to purchase a number of these construction kits:

They include a battery compartment, and I would like to order the required batteries online at the same time. Can someone tell me what size batteries that battery box supports?

The battery holder is for 4 x AA batteries.
