Hi;
Given: A 50’ x 50’ arena with multiple competing autonomous robots moving autonomously.
Need: A way to maintain real time X-Y positions for all competitors.
Guess 1: Maybe a Terabee TeraRanger Tower Evo 60m (4 Sensors) ToF Rangefinder each robot shoots over heads of all competitors to sense walls and calculate X-Y position?
Note: Each would feed central server that would calculate each robots position relative to all other robots.
Can anyone suggest better ways to accomplish the same goal?
Different sensors?
Sensors with more accuracy?
Maybe make the arena 20’ x 20’?
Any help is appreciated.
Is this going to be an indoor event? If so, have you looked at the Indoor Navigation Positioning System Starter Set w/ Case (433MHz)?
This should allow you to set boundaries with some coding, then you would need to still incorporate proximity sensors on the bots to avoid (or attack) each other.
You can install two Super-Beacons as stationary beacons and a Super-Beacon or a Mini-RX per mobile robot. One Modem v5.1 is required per system as well.
Here is a live example with 90 swarming “robots” in real time: https://youtu.be/Q7kyhTW7gMo?si=vVhaArYuXZgnrziT.
The line of sight between the stationary and mobile beacons is a must: https://marvelmind.com/line_of_sight/.
You will get ±2cm accuracy.
