Hello,
I’m a complete newbie at this stuff. What are they using in this video to connect the LEDs to the board (at about 2:36).

Would I use the same thing on both ends if I wanted to put a long wire between the LEDMatrix and my LEDs?
Thanks for any info.
Hi Ben,
Welcome to the RobotShop Forum. The first product you can see in the video is the RS485 RGB LEDMatrix Driver. The second product is the DisplayDuino RS485 Arduino Compatible Microcontroller. You also need RGB LEDs, a standard miniB USB cable and a power supply. The length of wire you can use between the LEDs and the board itself is determined by several factors:
]Resistance of the LEDs/:m]
]Power Supply used/:m]
]Total number of LEDs used/:m]
]Type and gauge of wire used/:m]At 2:36 they show an RGB LED connected to the mating female connector (not included with the package and can be purchased separately). Note that the revised LEDMatrix uses standard 0.1" spaced pins, so you can use most of the wires (choose female to female) we sell. We only offer one 4-pin cable which may work (we cannot test the two at this time).
Hope this helps,
