If you have started to get involved in building robots or are already active, it is most likely something or someone in your background got you interested in this field. Is it the lure of re-creating something you saw in a movie, or the complexity involved in creating artificial intelligence?
Isaac Asimov was my inspiration in the beginning. He made me dream about robots with all his stories in the first age of positronic and space exploration… The three laws of robotics is a guide for the future… A lot to say here, but that was it!
I think it was the movie “Aliens” that inspired me to get into robotics. The loader Ripley fights the alien Queen with was awesome and the android that bleeds milk

It was Robby the Robot in Forbidden Planet. I remember having an animated toy version of Robby.
