What is the gear type in RB-Dfr-667?

Can someone help me understand if the RB-Dfr-667 motor has metal gears in the gear box, or plastic? Thanks!

Hi @Ben_Cranston and welcome to the forum.

This is a good question.

We will check with DFRobot and let you know.

Thank you.

Hi @Ben_Cranston !

DFRobot support confirmed that gears inside are plastic not metal.

Thank you.

Hi! thanks for getting back to me on this. Can you recommend a 6v DC motor with encoder, metal gears, and L shape similar to the RB-Dfr-667? Thanks.

Hi @Ben_Cranston !

This looks good, but it doesn’t have encoder: 6VDC 160RPM, 38.89oz-in Worm Gear Motor - RobotShop

Thank you.

Hi @igor_X !
Thanks for the link. That looks like it might work for the form factor, but my application requires the encoder. Am I looking for something that just doesn’t exist? There are some motors that are “in-line” with the gear box, but am uncertain if they will fit in my robot base kit. https://www.robotshop.com/products/dfrobot-4wd-arduino-mobile-platform is the base I’m using.

Well yes, I didn’t see these small plastic L shaped motors with dual shaft with metal gears. Any other will hardly fit without modifications I think, but I guess you should analyze this in more details.
