My new Litter-Robot III Open is on its way and I would like to know what is the best litter to use with it? I used to use the cheap Litter Purrfect 15.9kg for under $10 at Costco.

The Litter-Robot has been designed to work with various types of litter, not just the premium clumping clay litters.
The sifting screen is suitable for both clumping, scoopable clay litters as well as for alternative litters such as Litter Pearls, Crystals or World’s Best Cat Litter.

My cats and I have enjoyed using Cats best biodegradable clumping litter for years, so I was pleased to see it recommended here. However, when I put it in my new robot and started the cycle, nearly all of the clean litter fell straight through to the waste drawer. Some goes through the sieve, so it is not too big. I also had not overfilled it, in fact the line was still visible all round. I suspect that as it is not as heavy as clay litter, it is not falling through the sieve fast enough, hence most of it skimming over the sieve and into the drawer. I would prefer not to change from it if possible, but I can’t see a way to slow down the cycle. To be honest, if it didn’t recommend it here, I would say it wasn’t suitable, but as it is listed as a recommended litter, I would really appreciate any advice to make it work.
