What is digital servo?

Servocity says:“Digital servos do not need to be programmed to operate. They work great right out of the box and purchasing a programmer is not necessary.”

I dont quite understand, so can I use a digital servo with several other “non-digital” servos (such as HS422, HS645MG etc.) on a same SSC32 board for a robotic arm, and programmed by software such as RIOS?

Or is there any difference?

Thanks guys for answering my basic question!

Yes. This might help:

Both digital and analog servos accept the same PWM signals. They will both operate from the same SSC32 board. Digital servos can just be “tailored” a little better.

A thing to check with digital servos is that they come programmed for what you want (like 180 deg rotation instead of 90 deg.). If not, you might wind up having to get a programmer to make changes.

If not programmed for 180, some companies like to charge you an extra $10!
