What does "transmission cannot be back-driven once in position." mean for a high torque worm gear DC motor with encoderr?

Hi, for https://www.robotshop.com/en/high-torque-gearmotor-self-locking-worm-gear-motor-with-encoder-12v-12rpm.html

It says “The first gearbox stage is a worm-and-wheel meaning that the transmission cannot be back-driven once in position.”

I am confused as to what this means - can I not move the motor position back to position zero once it’s been moved to 90 degrees? Am I expected to do a full rotation in the same direction to get back to zero?

Any clarity would be really appreciated, thank you.

Hello @samhyder and welcome to the RobotShop community,

“The transmission cannot be back-driven once in position” means that you cannot physically move it by hand (in either direction) once in position, only the motor can move it. You can find more information about this here:
