What does error on COM5 mean on PICAXE Programming Editor 6?

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.

So I am creating a buzz wire game (you have a shape and when your wand touches it buzzes) using a PICAXE 14M2 chip to download the program. However, it says there is a hardware error on COM5. What does this mean? (I cannot send a picture until Tuesday as my teacher doesn’t allow it.)

Hardware: PICAXE 14M2 Chip
Download Cable
Download Socket
Circuit Board (https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiEueev4YThAhUDx4UKHQRyAAQQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.picaxe.com%2FHardware%2FProject-Boards%2FPICAXE-14-Project-Board%2F&psig=AOvVaw1iH6ebETAfv2BRByc17bVJ&ust=1552760393034758)

Software: PICAXE programming Editor 6 program

Unsoldered and re soldered several components
Used different wires
Used different download cable.

Thank you so much for your help!

Since this may be for a homework I can’t give you the answer directly but it seems that the COM5 is where your PICAXE is plugged and I believe it is plugged via USB.

There could be an issue with your device (IC) not recognized or with the software.

Verify that the software detects the model of your board.

Hope this helps.
