What Batteries For RobotShop/Waveshare AlphaBot2?

Hi!

Hoping someone can verify what batteries are required for the Alphabot2 robot I ordered from the Robotshop.

https://www.robotshop.com/en/alphabot2-mobile-robot-development-platform-rasberry-pi-3-no-pi.html

Specifically, the product description and user guide reference 14500 batteries. Considering that 14500 is physical size of battery more than a capacity (i.e. the same size as AA batteries), the question is really whether to use Ni-MH (@1.2V), vs Li-ion (@3.7V)?

Checking the Schematic, the LM2596 (4.5V to 40V, 3A Low Component Count Step-Down Regulator) would seem to imply that two 14500 Lithium batteries equaling 7.4V would be the right choice -Just wondering if anyone can confirm that, as rechargeable Lithium 14500’s are proving to be difficult to source in in the U.S. in any capacity over 1000mah.

Thanks for the help!
