What actuator to use for a small watch box rising platform?

Hi guys. looking for some help with a small hobby project of mine…
I have zero electrical or automation experience so bear with me please!

I’m building a wooden watch box with the idea that when you open the top, a small platform will raise up (no more than 70-90mm) which is holding a couple of watches on a winder mechanism. I have a winder mechanism sorted so just need help deciding how the hell I go about sorting the rest haha.
the platform itself would ideally raise automatically when the lid is opened. platform no bigger than approx 18cm square and weight no more than approx 1kg.

Does anybody have any idea where to start in terms of parts? seems i would need an actuator and then some way to control it and make it automated,

Cheers!

Hello
You can use a small dc motor(12V, 100rpm) like this for your project.
Youcan search on websites like Banggood, Aliexpress and amazon for parts.
You can use a potentiometer and Mosfet to control speed and a H-Bridge IC to control the direction of your motor.

Hey thanks so much for the information. I’ve tried a couple of things and little stuck with the H bridge.
So far this is what I bought:

DC 6V Gear Motor with Long… https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0753GJ9HL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

12V DC Motor Speed Controller… https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07CG97HDL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I thought the controller I bought would allow me to reverse the direction but seems not. Only speed of the motor.
Is there a board I can buy that does both in one?

Thanks again.

would this do the job?

Hello,
The motor seems good.
I’m don’t think the speed regulator would do the job,
U might have to buy a L293D dual channel motor driver to control speed and direction.
