Waypoint following GPS Rover/UGV

Hello, I’m new to this, although I have a background in software engineering. As a hobby/side project, I’m intending to build a rover to assist my father with his road surveying work. Here are the criteria for the rover.

  1. A list of latitudes and longitudes will be provided on the SD card; go to those sites and measure the altitudes, then write to the SD card.
  2. 5cm accuracy works (lower is preferable).
  3. Range <10 km.
  4. Speed: 10–20 km/h

I have some questions for you.

  1. Do I need to utilize the flying controller? Is Cubepilot purple good enough?
  2. How does Here4 work? Do I need to connect the Here4 base to my own RTK equipment because it lacks something akin to Here3’s base antenna?
  3. What parts and chassis do you recommend?

Hi temzin,

If you want good accuracy, you will need some sort of RTK equipment.
We are not experts in this tech so it’s best to follow the manufacturer’s advice.

You need to make sure the RTK system is compatible with your controller as well as knowing if the features you want are implemented.
