Before I went and bought a new controller, I thought I’d ask around if anyone knew of a place to find used battle bot controllers or if anyone had a controller laying around.
I was looking specifically for either a Robot Solutions RS80D R/C (2 X 80 amps), an Ampflow Mini (2X60amp) or two IFI Victor 883’s (60amp) or 885’s (120 amp).
I’m open to other controllers as well. Must be over 60 amps though. I’m looking at $400 ish for a new one so anything lower for a used one would work. It is to drive a dual motor turret transmission and will be testing only so it doesn’t have to look like new. Just work.
Thanks,
Hey evolution,
I looked all over for cheap and easy to use motor controllers but I ended up looking to spend $50 to $60. I’m in college and takes a little too much. Anyways, I looked into building my own H-bridge. Not fun stuff, but it takes a PWM input and with proper transitors you wont have to worry to much about heat. If your interested take a look at
bobblick.com/techref/projects/hbridge/hbridge.html. I hand built six of these guys to control my robot, they handle 48W with no problem. Just be careful of back EMI. Hope this helps.
Thanks for looking but I was expecting to pay at least $200 to $300 for a used $400 controller. And I’m gonna need closer to 2000+ Watts. 48 doesn’t even come close. I’m running 24V at 50 to 60 amps continuous and 100+Amp peaks.
