I installed the visual sequencer on my laptop and Im running all system requirements by far windows XP 1 gig of ram plenty of video and Im getting a box that pops up when I go to run the program that says (Error reading ComComboBox1-> ComProperty: Registry error (win error code : 2)
I was getting that error when my USB-to-serial adapter was not properly installed. I was running XP as a guest OS under VMWare with OS X as the host OS. It turned out that VMWare was not making the adapter accessible to XP. Once I corrected that, which simply required instructing VMWare to make the adapter available to the guest OS, the problem was fixed. Since your running XP natively I suspect you have a drivers problem, assuming you are using a USB-to-serial adapter.
HTH,
Dustin
The operating system is fresh installed and updated and all drivers are there and installed. i havent plugged anything in for the robot becuase I can even get the program to come up and start.
Here’s a cool tip. Do a google search for your error and tell it to look at this site.

It’s definitely a serial port issue. Let us know what you find. Hope this helps.
I did everything I could and even looked at all my drivers there are good and not in error. I dont have a serial port on this lap top just usb. I can get the Socket client Demo to work in the socket client demo folder of the sequencer folder under program files but that all. Is there another program I can use or any other suggestions? Is it because I Dont have visual basic not installed or no? This is really frustrating Im about ready to make a laptop a pop coaster and accidently spill my drink.
Unfortunately it’s a PC problem, not an SSC-32 problem. I’m no PC guru, heh ask my kids. lol
Last ditch effort. Do you make sure the USB to serial cable is installed and recognized by the OS before you open SEQ?
Did you check with the lap top mfg for the latest MB drivers?
NO I havent tried that I will give that a try I’m hoping that will work!
YES!!! I plugged in the USB to serial cord and it did its installing of the drivers and then I tried the sequencer PROBLEM SOLVED thanks guys for the help and for future reference to others.
You never properly installed the USB to serial cable drivers???
Well there’s your problem…
Before you plugged the cable in you had no serial port. The program requires one, so it complained. You will likely need to make sure the cable is plugged in before launching SEQ each time.
