Virual Glove. NEED HELP!

Hi everyoe, I have a complex situation but yet a simple question to ask. I have built a glove with 16 analogue sensors. I want to be able to compute these sigals to the computer for manipulation in videogame design. I have found various ways to do this but there to expensive or do not have enough analoge inputs as I need. Some of my options are---->

<Ni usb 6210>

Positive = this is the easiest possable thing i could hope for, 16 inputs for analoge and software to display them at the same time.

Negitive = 700 dollers lol

Positive = a ineexspensive way to send 4 analoge inputs or 8.

Negitive = dosnt allow me to send 16 analog inputs at the same time.

Ways I thought of doing it

“Multplexing”

posably multiplexing 16 analoge signals that convert adc to 16 8 bit patterns through rs232(this is if im understanding thi properly)

Which Brings me to my question

what is the best cheapest solutin for sending 16 analog signals to the pc for mnipulation? (considering my design and what i want to do with this)

have an update, i found this on the site RB-Spa-214 (Analog / Digital MUX Breakout Board ), could i use this multiplexor to send 16 seperate analog signals down one dataline?

Im looking for a push in the right direction, even combining components from this site to do this would work for me. So im open to anyways to send 16 analog signals to a pc at the same time(or with minimal delay).

(all the robotic sensors and products thusfar have came from the robot shop)

Thanks for the quick repley.

Yes at one point i was looking at the mega, although was having trouble unerstanding its cababilities. Im used to using pic microcontrollers, but im sure using a arduino would be similar. My question for the “arduino mega” is can it input 16 analog sensors and send them to the pc(serial/usb) at the same time(or wth minimal delay). Since my plan is to send 16 sensor information from a glove to create software to show this on a computer.

As for the adc units if i convert 16 seperate analog signals to digital, how would i send 16 8 bit patterns to a computer in one (dataline/usb/or serial input).

ok so i have been researching the arduino mega and correct me if im wrong, I can input 16 sensors to the arduino and connect them through a serial port and display all the sensor positions on a visual basics program.

im about the buy the mega but i need confermation that I am correct with this assesment and will be able to use these 16 sensors to controll visual basic video games?

Thank you foryou quick replys I have puchased the arduino mega 2560, among other things such as the 16 sensors consisting of stretch and bend sensors. I got conductive thread breakout boards actall its a lillypad bobbin so i can sew it in for the plug interface. As for the code Im going to use visual basics to just start with a bar display of the working sensors when i have that the game is on lol. anyways I will post videos with updates after I finish.

Hey there Watchout, have you managed to get the Mega interfaced with Visual Basic?

Hi WatchOut,

Welcome to the RobotShop Forum. Did you consider the Arduino MEGA? It has 16 analog pins and is also quite inexpensive. We also sell analog to digital converters.

Hope this gives you some ideas,

Correct. Connect 16 analog input and have the information displayed on your computer via USB. You may have to write a bit of code to get the values to display just the way you want. Since there is no direct interface with video games, this will need to be custom made by you. Sounds very interesting and we look forward to seeing you post a video with the results.

Sincerely,
