I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.
This weekend, we built two Viper kits. We are using a 9V battery to get started, and both are performing horribly. Very short runtime, extremely weak. I’ve looked at all of the radio settings, etc. and can’t find anything that indicates any issue.
Is it simply the case that the 9v setup is that bad? I’ll be ordering LiPo batteries for both, but don’t want to do so without feeling confident in the rest of the setup.
Your last line is what helped! I had read that article, but was unclear as to whether the performance issue I was having was due to the 9v (it was.) So answers always beget questions, right?
Now, I have a lipo battery installed, and it functions much, much better. However, the battery connector on the bot is set up as a straight two wire situation. The balance charger I use is a 3 pin situation for 2S batteries. There must be a “correct” way to make this conversion.

I’m guessing you are referring to the JST connector. Please check the manual pages 9 and 19 to see how it is used.

The balance charger should have two plugs for power and a 3pin port for balancing. You don’t need to balance the battery each time you charge it, however, if you prefer doing so then you might need an adapter cable, or simply unplug the battery from the bot when you want to balance charge it.
