Hi Everyone,
My name is Dave and live on the “WET” west coast of CANADA,
I’m currently using an ATOM Pro 24m, on a Mini Atom BB with an SSC V1 board and chip, 21 servos, ping, ps2 wired and modified Blackwidow code. All is working fine.
What I need to know is does the SSC 32 that ROBOTSHOP in CANADA and LYNXMOTION in the USA sells have the V2 chip installed.
Also is the MINI ATOM BB V2 that ROBOTSHOP CANADA sells the same as the ATOM BOTBOARD II that LYNXMOTION sells.
First on the SSC-32. Yes Robotshop sells the Lynxmotion SSC-32 and I would assume by now that they are only selling the V2s as pictured on their website.
And yes the Lyxmotion mini Atom BB V2 is the same one as Lynxmotion sells.
The SSC is pretty straight forward V1 ,V2
but i’m still a bit unsure about the Bot Board versions, I understand that the Mini’s are the same but is the Mini ABB V2 the same as the ATOM BOT BOARD II
LynxMotion advertises the Atom BOT BOARD II ( which I want )
but ROBOTSHOP advertises A MINI ABB V2
The main reason I’m being absolutely positive is because the shipping from LynxMotion is 3 time the price of the item.
I can not imagine they would have any of the old ABB boards as Lynxmotion has been selling the new boards for a long time. But you can always try contacting the robot shop. I did notice that their useful links points at the old manual…
The Mini BB (old version) has an inverter on it for the PS2 controller to work with the Parallax Basic Stamp. The BB2 (new version) has the inverter removed and the pins were changed to better support the PS2 with the Atom MCUs, so the newer BB2s nolonger support Basic Stamps for PS2 support.
Thanks for all the return info…at present i’m waiting for a reply from RobotShop.ca about the item that they sell.
I’m using a Mini-Atom BB right now that I purchased from them and assume that it is a V1 board, they now advertise a Mini-ABB V2, you know how some resellers change the names of produces slightly, well i’m questioning if this V2 mini is a BOT BOARD II or not.
I want to catch up with the rest of the crowd so I don’t have to convert code for my AtomPro24 and Mini ABB thou I have learned how to program the chips by having to convert.
I’ll just have to wait for a reply from them and see what happens…I’ll let post here when I get it sort out.
If you’re buying, you want the latest versions. Same goes for the SSC-32, although a chip can upgrade it, if necessary.
And as far as a BA chip goes, the PRO would be better, as that’s what the new Studio supports best. Not to mention that the Phoenix is a “Pro” project.
I’ve ordered all the goodies I want and of course after placing the order I saw the FREE SSC32 message…that sucks because one of the items I ordered is an SSC32…maybe someone will send me freebie some day…
We never had a MiniABB II so it must be the Bot Board II that they are selling. They order from us 2 to 3 times a month. I seriously doubt they still have a MiniABB on the shelf.
I’ve ordered everything I need from LynxMotion…RobotShop.ca has a board for sale described as the Mini ABB V2 and the picture they show has Mini - ABB on the board that’s why I’m confused, but no matter…the goodies are on the way from you guys.
