Great that we have a market place now on LMR. However, we might need to modify some small bits of it.
In my opinion we should hide the personal data (phone number, email, physical address) from the public and make a registration mandatory. It's ok to keep the buyers on the safe side but also the vendors need protection. First protection against spam, I am getting every day phone calls with intersting offers for insurances, finacial sevices etc.
That's all for now...i hope we can get some other opinions. I will create an account there, that's for sure :-)
Thanks for the input. FYI: What is shown at the Vendors ‘home pages’ is default settings from the system. (Just FYI) I did find the part about the e-mail shown somewhat strange as well - but then again I figured: Which vendor does not have a business mail and so on. And it’s so easy to create if you are just a single guy(girl) - so I was like ‘what the heck, the default settings are probably well considered’.
I’ll get it changed, but would like some votes since this is a pay-to-be-done-task for me. Place your ‘vote’ like this: Simply reply this by writing excactly the fields you think should be public at vendors profiles. Thanks
Registration mandatory for buyers? I’m not sure how this would make things more safe for Vendors?
FYI:
You will only see the order as something to ship in your back end if the buyer has paid.
We are using the ever paranoid PayPal - not direct Credit Card
I figure it is outmost important that it is easy to buy… Are you sure you insist on buyers creating profiles? A vast majority of our visitors are just dropping-by…
Safe for venors means just Safe for venors means just keep their details under the roof until a contract (sale) is done. Phone numbers and home address should only being sent by email after a valid purchase.
Those open address data, phone numbers and emails will just draw data miners to that page like flies to the s*** … you know what I mean
Yes: The system is making automated invoices & emails etc - once dealing is done all information is exchanged…
However, the buyer should have ‘some’ information about the vendor, right? And I’m asking what info - which data - should that be?
FYI/Side note: What is not there yet: On various lists of products, search results etc visitors will be able to see a small company logo, name of vendor, and country of vendor next to the products. This is because if you see something from a country you know is heavy on taxing, you can chose not to buy there, and if you see a logo from someone you ‘like’ (for one reason or the other) you’ll be able to navigate to this vendors list etc.
1 & 2: As far as they are honest, check. (But they will not last for long if they make fake accounts / send no packages) 3: Hmm… Interesting. I could make a call before activating an account… I’ll consider that. 4: Check.
Public:
1: Is comming 3: Check - only I cannot control if someone make changes there. 2: Now we are back at the essense… This is IMO what we have already, only it’s not a form, it’s full detail.
I’ll see what I can do in terms of vendors / contact forms - and get back
If any one out there cares to unload me, we are using CS Cart Multi vendor - any digging is appreciated (And I’ll do it myself as well of course - thanks)
Well, Public #2: I does not mean the full detail, but a way to contact the vendor via contact form like we have it on LMR. The sender only gets the real email address when the vendor replies.
