Using a micro servo sg90 with a ne555 generator

Hi i’m a newbie and trying to help my granddaughter.
We have several micro servo’s and she wants to use them to make a mini robot.
we bought some ne555 adjustable frequency units to create a square wave.
II connected the pulse generator on got that working (has 4 waves)
I connected via small press switch to a 9v orange wire from generator to orange on motor and powered up nothing ? cannot get the servo to move ?
What am i doing wrong ? We do not have a raspberry or Arduino how else can we get the micro motor
to move ?
Thanks John (Grandpaben)

Hello @Grandpaben and welcome to the forum!

It is great that you are helping your granddaughter starting in the world of robotics bu it is hard to tell what went wrong with your setting without seeing it so it is best if you follow a tutorial, there are many online but I like how this one explained everything

However, if your granddaughter is really interested in robotics it would be great if you invest in a microcontroller so she can do many other projects. Arduino is often recommended because its really user-friendly and you can find lots of information and tutorials online but there are other options like the micro:bit or other kits specifically targeted to kids.

I also suggest checking the Robots section here so she can get some inspiration from other projects created by the members of the community.

I hope this information can help you out!
