Hi,
I have the Aten UC232A for connecting the ssc-32 board to the computer, everything seems ok with the adapter as the activity light flashes everytime a command is sent using lynxterm. But the device just sits there and does nothing, the green light just stays solid. Both the Baud rate jumpers and on and the Tx Rx jumpers are both on.
Do you know if this USB converter is up to the job or not?
These are the specs of it.

Can you tell us what you are using for power? How many sources? Are they batteries or wall adapters? And how to do you have the power jumpers configured?
The power jumpers are identified as 3 and 5 in the following image:
Also, can you tell us which servo channels you are using?
If the green light on the ssc-32 does not go out when something is sent from lynxterm, then you do not have a serial connection to the ssc-32.
If both of the baud jumpers are present, you should also check that LynxTerm is using 115.2kbps as its baud rate.
Thanks for all your help, we have checked everything on the board and its all setup correctly. We plugged it into a serial port on an old computer and it was working fine. We have now returned the USB to Serial converter and bought a FTDI recommended one and it is all working fine.
Glad to see you got the board working. We’re not sure why, but some USb-to-serial adapters don’t work well with the SSC-32… It’s a mystery!
