I bought the Dynex Usb to Serial converter cable (dx-ubdb9) so that i could program my BRAT on my computer. I would have opted for a Serial card, but Best Buy didn’t have one. I have reinstalled the drivers several times, checked all of the jumpers on my BASIC Atom Pro (bot board II) and changed around port settings. Without the cable plugged in the robot runs the program on the ATOM, but when I plug it in the program stops and the robot is limp. I searched and tried everything that i found so i figured I would post a new topic. I am using Windows XP.
If you need to know anything else please ask
Thanks in advance
Here is the canned reply. Which is a link to the serial port / usb troubleshooting page. The Dynex cable is listed, which means someone has had better luck with it.

Off the top of my head. It’s within the realm of possibilities that the thing is defective. This sounds like a hard fault, and no manner of driver setting are likely to change anything.
I had problems with the same cable. I had to get the IOGear usb to serial cable
Hm. I use that same adapter(UBDB9) and don’t have a problem. The moduels run the code after programming without issue. To bypass this on your computer just open a teminal window to the UBDB9 comport. When connected in a terminal window the RTS and DTR lines are set appropriately to allow the module to run.
