Hey guys,
I had already built a rover and now I plan to upgrade it. I feel that the communication part is the one that requires a upgrade very badly. I planning to achieve a range of 3Km. I will be placing six IP cameras on-board the rover and I need stream from all of the cameras without any lag. The place I will operating the rover is a vast desert like ground with uneven terrains featuring uphills as high as 5m. I will not be able to get working internet connection on the operation field and rover must be operated only on Wifi signals or RC. I would be able to get stream from the IP cameras by connecting them to the Lan port my router on the rover. The difficulty here is the range. Before asking you guys for suggestions, I would like to take time to explain my previous build.
Transmitter Part a.k.a Rover on-boards:
I had a Hikvision IP camera connected to a Asus RT-A66U dualband Wifi router with a cat5 ethernet cable of 3m in length. The Asus router has two 9dBi high gain Asus antenna connected to it. Apart from this I connected a 15dBi TP-Link TL-AN2415D Omnidirectional antenna with a EP-AB003 WLAN booster.
Receiver Part a.k.a Ground Station:
The ground station had a Engenius ENS202EXT configured as a client router to the router onboard the rover. The Engenius AP had a 15dBi TP-Link TL-AN2415D Omnidirectional antenna connected to it.
I was able to get the camera stream only upto 300m. That too, the video was very much laggy. So I want to upgrade my rovers communication equipment to meet my requirements. I would be very happy if you guys would give valuable suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
