I’m new to the forum but am working on a very intelligent drone boat project which is going to have far-reaching applications(hopefully).
It is unique and quite complex(taking on a SWATH design for those who know what it is) and for this reason will take a considerable time to complete. I’ve decided to reach out for any robotics enthusiasts in the UK who might want to team up with me to work on my project and speed up its development. So if this is you, please get in touch!
I’m looking for people who have experience in any of the following areas;
Drone building from scratch
Outer body design and building
Autopilot programming (the usual suspects)
Robotic solutions (designing solutions to mechanical challenges)
Satellite telemetry
Any other robotics-based areas
I’m sure that once you understand the full project, you’ll be as excited about it as I am.
So even if its just to test the water or you are already interested, please leave me a reply and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you soon.
Very interesting project. Since you are likely teaming up with people you don’t know, it’s likely that you’ll have to be the sole financial backer in order to avoid complications of “who owns what”.
A SWATH hull design certainly has both advantages and disadvantages.
You can find a number of parts here: robotshop.com/en/bluerobotics.html
Ardupilot (and some other flight controllers) have boat mode which can help for autonomy.
Feel free to create a post on letsmakerobots.com as well.
Hi CBenson, that’s for replying! I am committed to be the sole financial backer. I’ve already poured quite a bit of money into my project. I’m just looking for people in the UK with the same passion as me and ultimately, benefit from it without having to put anything in, other than their time and skills.
I’ve chosen a SWATH design for some very specific reasons as well as having come up with solutions for some of the design’s shortcomings. There is also an additional, unique design element to my build that I know people will really be interested in but which also would benefit from the input of someone with more experience in mechanical robotics than I have. It still requires a good solution to be added to it(I know what needs to happen but am yet to apply the correct robotic method). That’s really all I can say about this part as it is unique and forms part of the patent which will be sorted at a later date.
I’m going to be using a Pixhawk system for the autopilot as I attempted first to use an APM but as many know, APM has now been discontinued. I am still however going to use the Ardupilot Mission Planner for basic navigation and an Iridium satellite-based telemetry for altering course and reporting back on surrounding conditions.
I’ll take a look at LMR and see if I can find any British enthusiasts over there.
I don’t even know if there are any Brits on this forum?
