Two 12v 55ah batteries on my remote control lawn mower Will saber dual 25 work and how many channel radio do I need?
That will depend on the maximum current draw of your motors. Do you have their specs? The 55Ah value is the capacity and does not necessarily relate to the current draw from the motors.
The number of channels for a remote control depend on how many individual “things” you want to control. If you use skid steering, you’ll need two channels. If you have another spinning motor, you’ll need a third channel. If you have others, you tend to need an additional channel per item / device. If you list everything you want to control, we can give you a better idea.
The motors are 24v 9.6 amps
If we assume 9.6A continuous under load, and you have two motors, then the total current draw would be 2x9.6 = 19.2A
2x 55Ah batteries would seem absolutely massive (are you sure the motors can move that weight?), and would have no problem providing the current.
A Sabertooth can provide 25A per channel, well above the 9.6A you need, so it would be fine.
HOWEVER, if 9.6A is the no load current, then the continuous current might be 4x to 5x higher.
Two channel but might add on accesories so 4 channel
I just need each motor to go forward and reverse
The Sabertooth DC motor controller allows the motors to go forward and reverse based on RC input.
Thank you for all the help. Dan H
