Turnigy UBEC bad?

The one you post look like the exact same as the turnigy.
Turnigy rebadge things… so it can be found under many name.

Take also a look at Pololu regulators…

Just ordered a micro one for an application

I had one go bad recently. I had a pair of them in my Phoenix and when I unsoldered it and was using one of them to drive another SSC-32 (that I use as a test bed for calibration, centering, min/max of servos).

I had one that was outputting 5V when the switch was set to 6V.

One thing I do notice with these UBECs, they get HOT quick…

I don’t think Turnigy was really considering thermal management when they designed this, since this is an 8-15A output switcher (at 6V), looking at the board and how it’s shrink wrapped, I don’t think standing air inside is enough to couple the thermal out, no matter how efficient these switchers are (which they are not unless you take the load near its max, then, the efficiency will go up, but so is the total power dissipated)…

Let’s get things clear:
Turnigy don’t “Design” things. It’s a China compagnie that rebadge things.
Thoses are realy cheap to buy, but cheap too… lol
Heat is not a good thing since it prove that the Efficiency is bad. Your battery is going into heat rather than move your bot… !

I am using Pololu regulator on one of my project right now. They are realy well made.
