Trying to use SSC-32 Servo Sequencer Utility to control Arm

I’m trying to use the SSC-32 Servo Sequencer Utility to control a robotic arm through the SSC-32U controller board, but I am not getting a response. I was able to get the arm to respond using the Flowarm software, but it was difficult to isolate the motions of the various joints for testing. Does the Servo Sequencer Utility require some special set up to get it to work with the SSC-32U?

I think I had the Servo Sequencer Utility working on another computer in the past, but it’s been quite some time, so I’m not sure that’s the software I was using.

Thanks.

Hi,

The FlowArm software actually uses an inverse kinematic system, which would make it impossible to isolate the 3 main motion joints (shoulder, elbow, wrist) since they are controlled by this system simultaneously. The sequencer would most definitely be a much better option to move the joints independently.

The main issue users typically encounter with using the SSC-32U and the free sequencer utility is the baud rate. The SSC-32U is set to 9600 baud by default (for compatibility with Bluetooth modules, such as in the RB-Lyn-851 kit).

Therefore, make sure the SSC-32U and sequencer have a matching baud rate. The sequencer’s baud rate can be changed in the bottom right corner. The SSC-32U can be verified and changed using the BAUD button on the board. Please check page 34 of the SSC-32U manual for details (bottom half) on how to verify and change the baud rate of the board.

We hope this helps!

Sincerely,
