Tri Tracked Vehicle controlled by two R/C radios

Hi guys, I am very new to lynxmotion and robotics in general. I am doing a project for Science Olympiad where one has to construct a vehicle that can move different objects to different goals.

I ordered the tri tracked vehicle set controlled by the sabertooth controller.

I have a question about the sabertooth:

I have a partner for this project. He needs to control the driving portion of the robot, while I control the arm portion. I wanted to know, is there any to have two recievers connected to the sabertooth/battery?
The arm is custom made from fiberglass. It requires around two amps to function fully.

So to confirm:

  • Two separate receivers
  • One battery for the drive motors
  • Separate battery for the arm?
  • Arm requires ~2A
  • Sabertooth onboard 5V can provide 1A continuous (1.5A peak).

You should be able to split the 5V line from the Sabertooth to both of the receivers, however you should not power the arm from that supply, nor should the power supply from the arm go to the receivers (GND only).
