Tri-Track with encoders?

Do you have a kit or method talking about how to use the tri-track chassis with encoders? I really like the kit, but don’t entirely want a chassis thats going to be flaky to determine position/speed etc, and my problem appears to be in designing a chassis. I have designed my own mainboard which includes 8A capable h-bridges. I just need help selecting a chassis/motors. I would greatly prefer tracked designs.

Sorry we don’t have an off the shelf solution for using encoders with the Tritrack chassis. We have something in the works, but nothing on the shelf yet. Sorry…

will the ghm-15 motors with encoders replace the ghm-02’s that come with it?

Can they bolt up? I think so, but I don’t have any of those motors here to test. I do not know if I will be getting more of them.

Sorry, I missed that fact, found them by google. How about the GHM-04’s and QME-01 encoders attached? Will this bolt up and work? (7.2v is actually better for my application.)

Yes I was going to recommend that, but ran out of time.

Are you all able to make a price cut for a track kit with no ghm-02’s since I won’t need those?

When you order just type in the comments to swap GHM-04’s for the GHM-02’s as they are the same price. Thanks…

Awesome, thanks, will order tomorrow morning most likely! thanks for the support!

Since there is an inherent slippage with any track system, aren’t encoders inherently… useless? An external-based SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) is completely independent of any track slippage.
Also a helluva lot harder to implement. Several fine PDFs are available that lay out the theory.
I’m trying out a compass and accelerometer system, and measuring the rate of change of distance to a stationary object yields good info. It also is REAL tough to code and deal with the rapid processing required. Very processor and data intensive. Brain overheats alot (mine.)

Is GHM-04 motors with QME-01 encoders still the recommended solution for the tri-track chassis, and can we still replace the GHM-02 motors for free?

Correct. Be sure to add a note to your order. As you likely know, the encoders themselves are sold separately.

Great, thanks for the quick response!
