hello everybody,
I’m new on this forum, but I have great expectations.
My big passion is carp fishing and for that I use a remote control bait boat,so it would be helpful to install an external device for tracking and memorized the routes of the boat using only RF transmission.

here is a link with a already made device with all the technical details.
My desire is to get something similar(or nearly),but CHEAPER! !
I read something about some modules from ROBOSHOP,RB-SPA-285 and RB-Dfr-18,need also a receiver module and a display but the problem is to put to work together all the necessary parts.I hope that once made this device to be useful to other fishing enthusiasts with less financial possibilities.
Thank you for your endless kindness
Normally when you start from the component level, you are creating a prototype which will likely be on the expensive side. To put all of this together, you will need to be prepared to do a lot of programming - is this something you are comfortable with? If so, what programming languages? RB-Dfr-18 is a simple RF data transmitter and can’t really be used to track a position.
A GPS module feeds raw GPS values to a microcontroller, and then the microcontroller needs to interpret these values then either store them or plot them on a screen, but what else would that screen have? If you want it to communicate with Google Maps, you’ll need to design an interface, and Google Maps ideally needs a browser, which requires a computer as opposed to a cheap microcontroller.
The cheapest way to get and see GPS coordinates is likely an inexpensive smart phone with built-in GPS.
Just want you to get an idea of what you’re in for…
