This is my tracked multi-purpose robot. It is powered by two DC motors and controlled via RF link (range 1km LOS) by a usb controller plugged into a laptop.
The pan-tilt mechanism can utilize various configurations: - fire hose (for firefighting) - mine detection probe - robotic arm - machine gun (for military use) - radiation detection system (for use in nuclear disasters) - night vision system etc...
This early prototype (V1.0) lacks range sensors and three on-board cameras that enable full telepresence experience and environmental awareness for the operator (all this will be added).
There is no feedback at all. I have just two DC motors turning it either way. Currently I’m building new (improved) version of my robot and here for the pan/tilt mechanism I have two heavy-duty servo motors.
Currently I use only one 12V 5Ah Lead-Acid battery and it lasts for about 30 minutes. I’m now planning to switch from 12V system to 24V system and also attaching more batteries to it.
