Toilet Roll Tubes and Eggboxes

Don't you laugh at me, Fritzl! I know how to make robots better than any Daddy.

I guided my 7-year-old in his first robot endeavour at the weekend. This is it.

Looks pretty

  • Actuators / output devices: Hands and stuff
  • Control method: Human manipulation
  • CPU: Why would it need a CPU? It's a robot, for heaven's sake.
  • Operating system: Cardboard
  • Programming language: PVA Glue
  • Target environment: Primary school teachers

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://community.robotshop.com/robots/show/toilet-roll-tubes-and-eggboxes

Hahahaa  It looks so light! I want to send a wallracer or Bernhard The Cuplifter in for a stroke, and make it fly!

Could you not make a video where you bash it? It would make me feel good

Perhaps something with fire?

Wot’s in a Weight?

Yep. It’s a “flyweight”.

Possibilities

I will try to talk number one child into assisting me with that particular experiment. I have a microwave oven in the garage for that type of thing. I don’t know what state it’s in after the time I tried to use it to mix emulsion paint, though.

Tossing a CD in the

Tossing a CD in the microwave for a few seconds is a great way to destroy data on them! I have done that before shredding them to ensure no data escapes unharmed.

Very Cool for a 7 Year old
Did your son design it himself? I remember when I was 7 (some 30+ years ago) and saw the movie Westworld. I knew then that I wanted to build robots and Humaiform Androids. Only now has the tech caught up with the dream. Your son could go far if he has and keeps the passion for robots.
