Tips for Writing Reviews

HELLO LMR REVIEWER!

If you're reading this guide it’s because you're likely a fortunate robotics enthusiast who has been selected to get a product for free in exchange for a review, or maybe you want to improve your posting skills to increase your chances of getting the next free robot or part, so keep reading! If you've stumbled upon this page and want to be considered as a reviewer, check here to see how to get a product for free in exchange for a review.

1. Multiple reviews

It's optional, but the more content you share, the more people will engage with you. Multi-part reviews allow you to share your experience in more detail, plus you provide more exposure to the products you are reviewing. Consider creating multiple or multi-part reviews based on unboxing, mounting, testing or integration. It only takes a bit more effort, but when the company sees how great your review was, manufacturers will love you and it will help you to be selected for that next great review: everybody wins!

2. Add links!

A simple link provides the reader with easy access to additional information without any additional effort. Readers enjoy your review much more since they can choose what additional information they access from your main post. Links normally refer the reader to the seller’s pages (categories or relevant products), additional reading about a topic which they did not go into in detail (Wikipedia for example) or links to content on LMR. It’s great if you provide at least one link to each relevant additional piece of information, but we encourage you to add a link multiple times since many readers tend to “skim” sections (and therefore links). By linking to the “call for reviewers” post when you introduce your review, people know where it all came from.

3. Pictures and videos!

You already know that “a picture is worth a thousand words” which is why video bloggers can earn a living doing just that. There is a lot of attention given to reviews with videos and pictures, though we have found that technical people also like seeing details, specifications and reading descriptions as well. The more comfortable it is for a visitor or member to browse your review, the more attention it will get. What if you really like some of the pictures on the manufacturer’s site? Feel free to use them! However, please include your own awesome pictures too so the post looks like yours, not just something the manufacturer produced.

4. Menu settings, tags and meta description

In order to make your post more searchable and SEO friendly, it’s important to fill out the title, description, categorization, keywords and meta tags fields (Google will love you, and so will the people who search for articles using search engines).Go though the editing options to see what you can fill out.

5. Have fun!

If you show you had fun with the product, people will feel your enthusiasm from the way you write, while your pictures and videos immerse them in the experience. Projects and reviews are a big part of why people visit Let’s Make Robots; they want to learn more about what’s on the market and maybe use that information towards their own projects or even career development.
