Timing sensor project

Guys i’m trying to build a small project which is a timing sensor for falcons that has a start and finish point and the only thing that i want is the time per seconds. And it can be programmed on a private software. Help me pls .

Hey @Mu11

The simplest / feasible using sensors would be to do camera-based video recognition (like OpenCV) to see when the “object” (falcon) passes the designated place.

That being said, it would be prob. better with a setup with two camera perpendicular to the passage of the falcon (like two RPi with a camera each). You coordinate their clock via internet and then both reports their value obtained at a common place (one of the two RPi or a 3rd “computer” / database / etc.).

A second option would be to do something like this:

My friend i need something accurate that has a Teledata TED Transmitter: radio transmitter with 400 mW power for distances up to 4,5 km. And a Teledata TED Receiver: radio receiver that allows to use impulse transmission and data transmission also a 180° laser sensor with a reach of up to 50m adjustable and programmable. If you have any idea of making a project like that kindly help me.

Hello there @Mu11

Seems like you already have some of the hardware, right? Could you please specify what you already own. It also looks like you already have an idea for the hardware you need for transmitting and receiving the data, so I’m not sure if you need any help regarding that part. You can find the laser sensor you need in the LIDAR, Laser Scanners & Rangefinders section, there are many options there so you should give it a look. You can also check out this guide for choosing detection and tracking sensors.

If there is anything else we can help you with don’t be afraid to ask

Thanks for the fast replay, yes i m planing to make a software for this project which has the record of which falcon broke the time to keep tracking the falcons. So i need your advice of what is the best equipment for the radio transmitter and the receiver. Actually, I attached a picture of the transmitter that is plugged in the laptop also at the finish line there is same equipment which is laser sensor and laptop and a receiver plugged in a laptop. Your advice is appreciated.
