UPDATE: 30/04/2015

Great news!

We have confirmed the 3 WiPy with 3 expansion boards for our LMR revewers and manufacturer has their email addresses to start shipping as soon as the Kickstarter: the WiPy ends. We expect a lot from our reviewers so let's see ;-)

I can tell you that more robot kits and parts are comming from other manufacturers, so stay tunned!

UPDATE: 27/04/2015

Wow: there has been a great welcome for this new WiPy! All spots of reviews are closed already! However, please write your comment on what you think about it, or even if you want to review a board just in case we get a new one! Thanks! And let's wait for the reviews!

We saw already some nice projects on Internet of Things interesting for our robotic projects. Usually the main issue was how to program it. Now we have it very easy with a new product that is launching in Kickstarter: the WiPy.

We have many posts here at Let's Make Robots about Python and robotics like these ones:

Why WiPy?

Because WiPy is a tiny yet powerful board ready to connect to Internet through WiFi and be programmed by one of the easiest programming languages: Python. I myself learnt that language a year ago and I found it much easier than C (of course) and similar to Basic when long time ago we started programming. But don't be wrong Python is also powerful and with WiPy you well get it to the next level with your robotic/electronics experiments.

Even more, WiPy is very powerful. Its main features are:

  • Inexpensive, small and breadboard friendly.
  • Ultra low power (850uA with the WiFi connection active)
  • 100% PYTHON PROGRAMMABLE.
  • Lots of GPIOs, interfaces and peripherals.
  • Powerful CPU and state of the art WiFi radio.

Do you want to get for free a WiPy and review it here at Let's Make Robots?

So if you are:

just write a comment below because we have some parts to test and review. As you'll get that part for free and in exchange you will write a great review (only here) about WiPy. Hurry up because we have a few spots! All boards are gone for the moment. But please keep commenting this as we maybe can get some few more. Thanks!

However if you want to be sure and get one at a good price, go now to Kickstarter: and support the WiPy. We'll update this as soon as we have new info. Keep tunned in Twitter for fast movements!

Hey could I get a free WiPy?

Dear: Franciscodr

You should know I have plenty of experience with python and Raspberry Pi. I made a morse code LED, a binary LED, a brick breaker python video game, and that is basically it. Although I have never written a tutorial before I wouldn’t mind doing it. Thank you.

You’ll write your great review about WiPy!

Dear Noah,

So fast so good!

Yes, after contributing with several posts and many comments and forum posts in LMR, you’ll have your WiPy! So you’ll have the opportunity to write your first great review with this great piece of technology: WiPy. Wait for further instructions to get one and thanks for contributing and please keep going!

Omg I am in shock!

My first review! I don’t know what to say! Thank You!!!

Great! Be prepared!

Oh that’s great!

you can prepare yourself reviewing those python examples that the WiPy team has published in the Kickstarter site. You can also think about any kind of robot you can build with WiPy and the electronics hardware you have. We look forward for your developments

Thank You!!!

I am thinking about building a wipy robot chassis and I think I know how. Thank you I will review the code.

I would love to review one!

Hi Franciscodr

This board is tremendous - Python is my favoured language and i have plenty of projects that the wipy would improve greatly.

i am currently working on a version of Cevinius’ MobBob that i would love to enable with voice recognition like gareth alluded to.

i also would love to explore it’s use for wireless data collection for work purposes.

Thank you for this wonderful board!!

Craig

Great to have yours!

Hi Craig!

You have the spot for the third board! I look forward for what you can do with that great piece of top technology. Thanks!

Thank you!

Thank you so much for this - cant wait to give this board a try!

My email, should you need it, is my username at gmail.com.

Thanks again!!

Please contact me asap

Hi Noah!

Please contact me as I need your email so the manufacturer can send you the parts. Thanks!

How about Onion Omega?

How about this one: Onion Omega, it runs with full Linux, as Raspberry Pi does.

Thanks for the tip!

Hey Mosmas you rock!

We have just contacted them to invite for review and get into the Marketplace. Let’s see. We have already contacted many of kickstarter and indiegogo projects that fit into our robotics interests. However if you have a suggestion please don’t hesitate to tell here. Thanks!
