The Wi-Rover

I have started my work on my second robot - Wi-Rover. the idea as i said while concluding my first robot is to have one that can roam around on itself avoiding obstacles and can be controlled using my latptop over some wireless mechanism. Since adding the arm board on my robot and adding the wireless LAN capabilities turned out to be a very costly option, i am designing my robot around long range RF Modem's. Here are a couple of initial photos of the Wi-Rover the chasis and the rest of the stuff is pretty much taken from my first robot Rover (https://www.robotshop.com/letsmakerobots/node/1736). And the looks inspired from "Wall-E". I have ordered the parts and am anxiously waiting for them to start further work on this.

That modem is interesting… have you tested the max distance it reaches ? I’ve purchased this stuff, have still to use it but in the forum they say it’s everything but a transparent replacement… :slight_smile: it would not come for less than 9 $ in that case :stuck_out_tongue:

i did look at this option but as you said this is no transparent replacement. One has to implement all the basics in this case. I will work on this once i am done with the current project.

What standoffs did you use?

I have the tamiya track set and the universal plate set but the standoffs i ordered won’t work because they are only 3/16" of threading and the plate is 1/8" thick leaving only 1/16" to try to screw a nut on.  Your robot looks really cool.
