The new DFI cable’s wire doesn’t reach the pin

I got a DFI cable for the Litter Robot 3, but the latest version has short cables which do not reach the base contact pins. The cable is useless. Any suggestions?

Hi @Stardustgun and welcome to our forum.

This is strange. I’ve never seen an issue like this before and I know hundreds of these DFI sensors are replaced during last several years.

Could you provide some photos of the part you received? Maybe there is a manufacturing defect.

Thank you.

It is a manufacturing error. The new board should come with longer cables since the board is a few inches shorter, but the cables have the same length as the old board. I laid the old DF and the new DFI next to each other to show the shortness of the cable. I ended up splicing the wires.

I hope team robotshop will take a look at the picture and give you a replacement.

Hi @Stardustgun,

Thank you for the photo.

Here is the manufacturer photo of the complete new sensor:

I don’t see much difference. Are you sure you are connecting it to correct pins? These two black wires should go to anti-pinch pins and not base contact pins.

Also, did you buy this part from RobotShop or from Whisker?

I bought two of them from RobotShop.com in August. I have two accounts. I have replaced more than 10 DFI cables in the past. I bought all the replacement parts from you. When the DFI became the newer ones the cable length were fine, and I was able to connect to the base connect pins. However these two I got this summer are too short. I don’t know if they were bad batch.

Hi @Stardustgun ,

We will check with our technician who is using these sensors often. We will get back to you.

Thank you.

Hi @Stardustgun ,

Our technician claims that the new DFI sensor on your photo looks normal.

Could you maybe take some photos after the installation?

Thank you.
