We are lucky enough to have received one of the early Neato XV-11 engineering samples. We took this chance to take a few pictures and shoot an unboxing video in order to share with everyone this awesome experience. The only difference between this sample unit and the regular XV-11 is the former sp
Hi Copperhead, The XV-11 comes with a 100-240V power adaptor so it should work in the UK. Nevertheless, it is important to keep in mind that Neato might change this in the future, but so far, you should be safe.
My Neato XV-11 is the most awesome robotic vacuum cleaner on the market today. With RPS technology, to a scheduler it really cleans my house methodically with out missing any spots. I know I sound like an infomercial but all of this is true, it has really good suction power and I never have to be at home to vacuum anymore. Just like the Jetsons Rosie the robot and the robot vacuum, the Neato makes me feel like i’m in the future!!!
I got my XV-11, charge it up with 240v, no problems, works as it is promised. It was able to finished the whole apartment with 5 rooms(1 big, 4 small) in one charge. And able to find its way back to the station after finishing its chore. Now its a tool our family would use it. Good stuff.
Hi Copperhead are you in the UK? if so where did you get one from as im in UK and have been wanting one of these for ages. did you get hit with any import taxes?
I went to Target here in Connecticut and they only had a sample or should I say a shell of a sample. Upon further examination I noticed that it said Neato XV-12 not XV-11. What’s the difference from XV-12 at Target and this XV-11?
Thanks Carlos! The XV-at Target is a floor sample–the Dust bin doesn’t come off as it’s a solid piece and the message display window has a transparent glass with a message written on it. I’m hoping you can answer this question: I’d like to know if all other function of the XV-11 will work if or when the vacuum motor is disconnected or remove? What if only the power wire or only the ground wire is disconnected/cut and a on/off switch is added? I know about the warranty issue. It’s for Robotic experimenting and hacking purposes. The Roomba folks tell me theirs is better for this but, the Roomba is round shaped. I have one and would like to have a competition and perhaps called it Superb Bowl XV. Any info will be greately appreciated.
It says the Neato does a 360 degree mapping of the room. However, in the first footage it does a 180 degree turn and again another 180 degree to it’s original starting point–It mapped the same area twice not the entire room in a 360 degree turn. On the second shot, it did the same and then turned a little more (about 30 degrees) facing the sofa chair then started to work. It performed better than the Roomba but, there is no way in knowing if it was hacked or tampered with. I like that the XV started on the edges and ran in straight lines like “cutting the lawn”. I’d like to know how high from the floor the laser scanner detects objects. If the XV is about 3.5 inches high (Not 10"). The laser is about 7 inches from the front bumper and at least 3.5 high on top. I can logically state that the laser would detect anything that is at least 3.5 inches high and at least 3.5 inches away from the bumper. Am I wrong? This is not a bad thing. It can still detect the walls and furnitures or objects at a certain distance. It’s like the rear view mirror on a car having a blind spot. Talking about mirrors, what would happen if the laser scanner detects a mirror? I know the answer, so be honest.
