The difference between SONY PS2 and Lynxmotion PS2

Hi all,
Please, can anyone tell me the difference between SONY PS2 and Lynxmotion PS2.
Thanks

The Lynxmotion, likewise the Madcatz and Pelican, and logitech PS2s are more or less all clones of the Sony wireless PS2… That is they all worked when plugged into the original Sony Playstation 2.

However as there were different manufactures for them, which used different hardware and firmware, they may not all work identically and as such may not respond identically in a robot. There are issues like, the PS2 consoles worked on something like 3.3v and some of these controllers work fine on 5v and some do not. Some of these controllers may need an ACK signal, most do not. Some may need a more exact sequence of commands to respond correctly. Some are more forgiving on timings. Some are better at having the joysticks consistently come back to center than others…

It was for these reasons that Lynxmotion started to sell their own and mostly only support those. Before then they recommended Madcatz or Pelican-brand controllers.

It’s also important to note that the PS2 we carried needed to be changed - hence the level shifter.
Not all PS2 controllers are equal, so we stopped selling the PS2C-01 cable as well as the wireless PS2 transmitter / receiver and now only offer the RC-01 V2 which includes the level shifter.
