Telepresence robot using SKYPE

This has to be my simplest robot I've ever made. All you need is two pcs, and one must be a laptop (or a smartphone...), a toy truck, skype on both devices, wifi (or phone service...be creative!), and two webcams (or they can be built in...). Oh! and a large rubberband. Be an overachiever and get a whole bag! Just follow these steps that i made up to be awesome:

Step 1: Make a sandwich.

Step 2:Dont ever skip this step. it is vital to the project.

Step 3:Make two skype accounts (one for each pc)

Step 4: (the tricky one) Attach the laptop to the RC vehicle with the rubber band.

Step 5:Turn on both computers, the car, and the controller.

Step 6:Boot up skype on both computers and call one. Answer with video

for best results.

Step 7: Isolate yourself in a room such as a closet or a bathroom or a backroom.

Step 8: Enjoy your sandwich and let your robot terrorize the locals >:D

(I told you that the sandwich was vital!!!)

~enjoy!~

Impressive! but there are

Impressive! but there are alternatives to skype which I have used in a similar small project. It used a blackberry and my laptop.

A software was to be installed on both the smartphone and the pc, and then you can see in your pc what the mobile’s camera can see ( as long as there is wifi or bluetooth range!)

Cheers!

I like the part with the

I like the part with the sandwich \o/

…but it’s not really a robot or is it driving autonomous?

autonomous

nope, I control it using the stanard remote. It works as long as it is not out of range.

-Yes, the sandwich IS vital!

"It used a blackberry and my laptop."

What app did you use? I have been looking for an app for my blackberry.

I had a hard time finding

I had a hard time finding it, but WWIGO or Mobiola should do it :)

All the best!

appz

You can use the skype app for iphone and android, and im pretty sure there’s one for blackberry. Maybe a video texting app could work in place with skype!
