Hello.

I am looking for the tech specifications for the software to run the Lynxmotion AL5D PLTW Robotic Arm Kit w/ FlowArm. Specifically, I have a desktop computer lab and need to hook up the robotic arms to these desktop computers. Can I use a long USB cord to make a proper connection between the computer and the arm? Is there a recommended maximum length for the usb cord?

Hi Mark,

According to the USB 2.0 standard, the maximum length for the USB cable connecting your computer to the SSC-32U would be 5 meters (or roughly 16 feet and 5 inches). You could also use a Bluetooth Bee for wireless communication with the SSC-32U, such as done here. If you already have the AL5D PLTW kit with the SSC-32U, then you can also purchase the Bluetooth Bee individually here. Please note you can also use other types of Bee boards, as most of them should be compatible.
