T-Motor Prop Adapters

The Lynxmotion 400 T-Motor Vtail Kit ships with Prop Adapters with all normal rotation threads.
Do the props on the Port side of a Vtail ever unthread? What is the hole size of the Prop Adapters
that come with the Lynxmotion 400 T-Motor Kit? Some of the Gemfan Props that come with the
Lynxmotion 400 are hub unbalanced. How do you fix hub unbalanced Propellers? Do you use any
other Propellers?

Thanks Regor

Welcome to the crazy world of quads, Regor!

Prop adapters and nuts are threaded clockwise. This means the clockwise rotating motors will automatically shed their props at the worst possible time. This is called a “feature” by the folks in marketing. There are two solutions, maybe three:

  1. Use the T-motor prop adapters which usea two scenes to mount each prop. This the “best” approach but requires you to buy props from T-motor. Which are very expensive IMHO.
  2. Live dangerously. Have friends place bets on exactly when, during flight, one or two props will be spontaneously liberated, resulting in an impressive landing of your $450 v-tail.
  3. Go to your local hardware store and get a handful of “ny-lock” nuts. These are the guys that have a nylon bit on the thread which prevents the nut from backing itself off. You should check but I think you’ll need 5mm nuts. My sense is that most folks take this approach.

I was totally appalled when I first encountered this problem. I’m very glad that manufacturers of table saws use an anti-clockwise shaft and nut for mounting saw blades!

In term of props, most come with the proper size insert to fit your motor.

Regor,
One more thing: MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THAT PROP NUTS ARE TIGHT EVERY TIME YOU FLY!

I’d suggest you check out helifreak.com for more information about the hobby.
Good luck,

We are not 100% certain of the question here.
The motor use M5 nut and are about 5mm in diameter at the base.

Most propeller manufacturer supply their product with a larger hole and a series of adapter ring to fit different shaft sizes.

To balance the propellers, you can place a piece of tape on the end that is the more light. Similar to that (image from web)
