I am competing in a school sumobot competition in the 3kg weight class with a metal dohyo. We do intend to use magnets as well. I noticed when looking at the titan 1000rpm DC motor, it said " The Titan DC Gearhead Motor 12V 1000 RPM HP is the best motor for non-magnetic style sumo robots. Designed especially for projects such as powerful sumo robot projects." with emphasis on non-magnetic. My question would be are these motors still going to work with magnets and a metal dohyo. And also, is there a better suited motor for these conditions.

So, these type projects depends on robot style. Non Magnetic is 200 to 1000 RPM and Magnetic type robots use usually faster than 1000 RPM.
So this Titan DC Gearhead Motor 12V 1000 RPM HP is somewhere on the limit.
