Suitability for young builder and novice dad?

Hi, My 8year old son has just got into Robot Wars and is designing his ideal robots constantly. Would like to move him from paper pictures to starting to understand robot construction, programming and control. The Makeblock starter kit V2 and the DFR Robotshop Rover V2 both look good. Any views on which may be best starter kit or if there is a better route to go down?

Hi !

Both Kit are recommended for older kids but with a lot of supervision it should be ok.

The two kit are pretty similar. They both use Arduino.

For starting, I think the Makeblock Robot kit V2 woudl be the best option. It will be easier to assemble, comes with a software that has an easy graphical programming interface. The kit will also allow you to do some real programming if you want to take things a step further.

You will also get the option to upgrade the robot in the future with a lot of MakeBlock parts and upgrade Kit like the MakeBlock Add-on pack

I hope this will help you.

Best regards,
