Suggestions on how to click a button on an iPhone screen from PC

Hi, I’m trying to build a system to test an iPhone and part of the requirement is I need to tap on three buttons on the iPhone screen. I’m thinking I could do this with linear actuators but this seems like over kill. Has anyone got a suggestion as to the most cost effective way to achieve this. Basically to push a stylus a few mm onto the screen to simulate the tap of a human finger. The tap should be initiated on a PC using some Python code ultimately, so I’m guessing the actuator would be connected via a USB interface board.

Many thanks for any suggestions!

Cheers, Paul

Hi @pseed123 and welcome to our forum.

You have an interesting project.

A simple solution for a click on a touchscreen would be this device, MicroBot Push Wireless Robotic Button Pusher 2nd Generation (Platinum White) - RobotShop, although it seems that there is no PC app for this, only Android or iOS.

I also found this device made from several servo motors: MonkeyBot: the robot to automate touchscreen testing or playing video games - YouTube

Hi @igor_X , thank you so much for the reply, I’m sorry to be so slow to reply, I’m a bit of a newbie! Also the useful video link, which at least gave us the confidence that such a thing would be possible. We ended up buying an off the shelf robot arm (c. £150) and programming it to operate the iPhone as required. I’ll try and upload an image or video. Thanks again, Paul
