Stepper motor : How to detect mechanical resistance?

Hello,

I’m controlling a stepper motor for my application and when I switch on the system to turn the stepper motor in clockwise until to detect a mechanical resistance that lock the rotation.
The problem I have is that I have some noise when the stepper motor is locked by the mechanical resistance, normal, so I would like to detected the mechanical resistance.

I think I can read the current in one phase and detected it?
Is it possible to see this with a ACS712?

Thank you very much for your help.
Ben

Hi Ben,

RB-Spa-293 could help you detect the noise as long as the current measured is below 5A. keep in mind it is not a good idea to force a stepper motor beyond its torque capabilities since you could burn the coils.
