My SSC-32U stopped responding to commands. Initially, I was able to control five servos using the SSC-32 servo sequencer. After my initial test run I powered down the SSC-32U for the night. When I powered up everything the next day, none of the servos would respond to input from the SSC-32 servo sequencer. I double checked my setup. My baud rate is set to 9600 and my COM port is set to COM5. If I set the COM port to Off, then Auto, it automatically jumps to COM5. For the record I’m testing with the 6V power adapter that came with the kit.
To troubleshoot the problem I connected to the SSC-32U using the Lynx SSC-32 terminal application and executed VER from the terminal and received the following output: SSC32-2.50USB. Next I tried moving the slider on the right side of the application, up and down. I see the RX and A LEDs flash as I move the slider up and down, but the single servo I have connected to connector 0 does not respond. I’ve also tried connection different servos without any results.
I’ve also verified that all of my servos are good with a servo tester.
You’ve already done quit a bit of troubleshooting, so this should be rather quick to complete.
Please provide us with one or more pictures of your setup showing clearly all components (SSC-32U, jumpers, wires, servomotor connections, power cables, etc.).
Also, it would be helpful if you could tell us what type of project you are using. Is it a Lynxmotion AL5D robotic arm?
The next step would be to first connect the SSC-32U by USB and power it up with no servomotors attached. Then, add one servomotor only to channel 0 and see if that works. If not, try a few other channels.
If it does work, disconnect the servomotor and try another one in the same channel.
Everything does seem “fine” with your setup and the tests (other than the servomotors not turning, obviously!).
What channels did you try? If you did not already, we recommend that you try channels from all 4 driver chips (lets say 0, 15, 16, 31).
Also, would it be possible for you to setup initial pulse width & offsets (again, if not already done)? You can do so in Lynxterm; see the attached image for details.
If the SSC-32U still seems unable to control any servomotors on all those channels, please open a support ticket here, as you probably have a defective board at this point. In your message, make sure to mention your order/invoice number and give a link to this thread so we can quickly deal with this situation.
