SSC-32U not controlling Servos

I recently purchased a SSC-32U. The Board is communicating with the computer but the servo’s go hard over against their stop. The board will not control the servio. I can unplug the servo and manually move it back to center, but when it is re-connected it goes against the stop.

Is the board defective?

Please provide one or more pictures of your setup (SSC-32U, showing power connections, jumpers and servo connection).

Did you check to ensure your servo cable is oriented properly? If I recall correctly, the SSC-32U has the GND pins (typically black cable on servos) towards the outside of the board on those 3-pin male headers.

Also, if possible, can you provide 5-6 V DC directly to your servo’s VCC & GND pins and see if it has the same behaviour then?

P.-S.: You can simple paste (CTRL+V) an image in your post as you write it or use the upload button found here:

@TonyDeVault Any follow-up regarding the issue?

Turns out it was a bad servo. Everything’s working once I replaced it.

Glad to hear it was only the servo.

If you ever have any other weird issues like that, a good first step is to unplug all servos from the SSC-32U and plug them back in one a time, testing the channels as you do. Bad servos can cause shorts or other electrical instabilities making everything wonky.

A good way to test stuff on the SSC-32U quickly is to use Lynxterm (download here), the Lynxmotion diagnostic tool for the SSC-32U.

Great! Good luck with your project!

Sincerely,
